Text that says 'Scribe Tatoo' in a stylish cursive font

Scribe Tattooing is a form of intentional ceremonial tattoo design and application that I have developed through years of learning about human stories, the power of sharing these stories, symbols, creative energy and the power of human connection. Each Scribe Session is different, they change with each receiver of the ritual as well as with my own continued learning in the different areas of practice that I draw on for each session.

You can choose to mark a specific story or moment in your life or you can tell me stories about your life, based on some questions that I have prepared to allow you to connect with yourself authentically. While you talk I will draw, using symbols and other markings that come through. These symbols are made intuitively and have their own unique meanings and energies connected to them. Then you will pick the elements you connect with most. I will design a tattoo based on these shapes with your collaboration. The tattoo is then hand poked.

There is also an option to have a predesigned commissioned piece that leaves space for the symbols created, and we add symbols to that design during the story session.

A scribe story session can take anywhere from three to ten hours depending on the receivers intention and the size and placement of the tattoo.

Scribe with the Land

In a wild scribe session we will come together to give you an opportunity to connect more deeply with the land we live with and to connect with yourself as a part of the wider web of life. We will spend a whole day together to make a Wild Scribe piece. We will start by sitting in ceremony together, drinking tea made from herbs from this land (UK/Ireland/France).

We will walk together in nature, you will share your stories with me as we forage for natural materials that take your attention. We will walk for some time in silence to allow connection to what surrounds us. We will make an offering of gratitude to the land before scribing to create the basics of your tattoo design.

The Wild Scribe design that we create will be captured in a photograph and will become the basis of your tattoo design. We will return to the tattoo studio to draw up your design, it will then be hand poked.

The timings of the day, where in nature we walk, the ceremonial elements and the type of herbs we drink will all be decided together based on your intentions and hopes for the scribe session. These sessions take a whole day, we will have a consultation to come to the final length and shape of your session.

A shared scribe session can be with a partner, a parent, a friend or any other relationship that you both want to mark a moment together in. The stories shared in these sessions are often, how and when you met, what journeys you have come through together and any other relational or life milestones that you have traversed together.

While you both talk I will draw, using symbols and other markings that come through. These symbols are made intuitively and have their own unique meanings and energies connected to them. Then you will pick the elements you connect with most. I will design a tattoo based on these shapes with your collaboration. The tattoo is then hand poked.

Preparation

In the days leading up to your scribe session you could take some time for yourself each day to check in with yourself, this can be done by journaling, going for a walk in nature, taking a salt bath, stretching, dancing or any other way that you usually connect with yourself and soul.

Integration

Allow similar time in the days after your session to integrate what may come up in our session, this will help with the healing of the tattoo and any emotional or spiritual healing that may arise. It is good to eat nourishing foods, get good sleep and spend time doing the things you like to do to connect with yourself and soul. I will be available to check in with you in the days following the session should anything come up that you would like to reach out about.
